Level Measurement

Key Terms:

  • Point:  Usually a discrete level switch at a high or low location on the vessel.
  • Continuous:  An analog level transmitter which senses vertically along the vessel's height.
  • Contact:  A wetted device or probe that protrudes into the process.
  • Non-Contact:  A remote sensing device which does not physically touch the process.
What we typically need to know:
  • Vessel description
        Existing process connections
        Internal obstructions
  • Media to be sensed
  • Type of output with coarse or fine accuracy desired
  • Electrical classification and power available
Non-contact continuous level measurement can be achieved with microwave radar, nuclear, ultrasonic, and other technologies.
Accuwave being installed.
